I have a kennel....or a Zoo

A long time ago some of my friends (who happen to be breeders) asked me to make some dog inspired jewelry. I said then that I had absolutely no idea how to make it; I mean have to make it intresting :)

Well, then one beautiful day when I had absolutely nothing to do (= I was not in a hurry) I started to twist the silver wire and whoooops!!! the Parsonrussell brooch was born! Then I thought that what the hell, let´s make some other breed as well, and I ended up making a poodle brooch....which was quite a succes, or whta do you think?

Then I had to start to try other colors....here you are the Abricot Poodle brooch

And of course, the Black Poodle is a Must have!

When my friends saw these creations they were quite thrilled and started to order these.....so since then I have been making....or should I say "breeding" :) quite a lot of these brooches.

Here some terrier inspired brooches and necklaces

I can also make these brooches/necklaces inspired by people´s own pets, like this one

And there are some brand new ideas in my head....next time I will make a very colorful parrots, butterflies and so forth.....and I have few other dog breeds on my to-do-list, too. I´ll keep you posted!

Something Red something Snow White...

I just can´t stop admiring these BIG potato pearls that I just got a huge pile from our very good (and nice ) supplier from China. They have such a nice luster and thick nacre...Sometimes I just spend long periods just by watching and touching pearls....when I am not busy....and I have time for day dreaming :)

I have also started to create something nice for coming holiday season - a set of Christmas inspired jewelry of bright red Swarovski crystals and very nice snow white fresh water pearls, wait and see ;)

I am making EVERYTHING by myself, including links ans some clasps etc. Here you can see some "silver wire twists" which I am going to cut into links.

This is a piece that I made out of Gilt wire and pearls....I didn´t know exactly what this was meant to be but now I think I have quite a nice Bracelet on the way :) But I´ll tell you more about it later on...

The unbearable beauty of a life as a jewelry designer

Finally I made it - started blogging. So I am going to keep you posted about what´s going on behind the scenes of this "glamorous" jewelry making :) From time to time you might also see some dogs gleaming in the photos...that´s only because we happen to have four parson russell terriers at home and they are so very nosy and clever creatures that they most certainly will appear when they suspect that something EXITING!!!! is going to happen.....

Jewelry making is (also) hard work despite the fancy materials and quite glamorous image - but I benefit from extremely beautiful materials...just like these excellent Fresh water pearls from our supplier from China:

I am SO FOND of pearls!!! I can just touch them and see they reflecting light so softly and gently...They say that Diamonds are girls best friends....don´t know that, but I can live with these huge amount of pearls, too :)

Then I have found a very good wire supplier from UK. Their wires seem to be very good quality! Especially I am quite happy about these Gilt (Gold-plated) wires - they are nice in color and durability, soft and very malleable - very nice to work with.

I have also some ideas from these cobra leathers...let´s see what I am going to create.
